You have a Right

You have a right NOT to be beaten!!!
     
    IT IS A CRIME - For any person to cause you any physical injury or harm even if it is a
            current or former member of your family or household, or even if you are in a dating
            situation.
 
    TELL A POLICE OFFICER
  •          If you, your child, other household members or dating partner has been injured.
  •          If you feel you are going to be in danger when the officer leaves your location, or
            at a later date.
 
    YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO
  •          Ask law enforcement to file a criminal complaint against the person committing  family/dating violence, sexual assault and/or stalking.
  •          A Protective Order application can be filed to prevent further harm.  You cannot be charged a fee by a court in connection with filing, serving o                 entering a Protective Order.  A crisis center will assist you in filing the Protective Order application for free. 
 
    A COURT CAN ISSUE AN ORDER THAT
  •           Prohibits the abuser from committing further acts of violence.
  •          Prohibits the abuser from threatening, harrassing or contacting you at home or  at work, etc.
  •          May establish temporary custody of the children.
 
A VIOLATION OF CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF COURT-ORDERED PROTECTION MAY BE A FELONY!
